Lady Birds Travel To South Carolina To Face Columbia College

DALTON, Ga. - The Lady Roadrunners will be on the road today when they travel to Younts Stadium in Columbia, S.C. to face Appalachian Athletic Conference member Columbia College (S.C). Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

DALTON STATE
Dalton State will be looking to stay perfect on the early season. Rosie Lindo and Adriana Romero scored goals in the season opening 2-1 victory over NCAA Division II member Shorter (Ga.). The defense played tough allowing Shorter to just four shots, with only one coming on goal. Senior Rachel Hardin played tough in goal deflecting a number of shots wide. Defense will be key today against an opponent that can fill up the goal.

The Lady Roadrunners will be facing their third AAC member in as many weeks with scrimmages coming earlier against Bryan (Tenn.) and Tennessee Wesleyan. They will look to stay undefeated against AAC competition with a win today.

COLUMBIA COLLEGE
The Koalas were 12-6-1 overall last season finishing third in the AAC regular season standings and advancing to the quarterfinals of the AAC tournament. They are led by senior midfielder Amber Tanner (13G, 13A in 16'), and juniors Courtney Carrier (12G, 14A in 16') and Ruby Halam (13G, 5A in 16').

They have gotten off to a slow start thus far on the season, going scoreless in losses to Thomas (Ga.) and Columbia International University (S.C.), but will look to get back on track today. A player to watch out for could be junior transfer Heather Blaszak. Blaszak joined the Koalas this season after starting her career at Spartanburg Methodist College and is already second on the team in shots with four.
