Lady Birds Fall To #4 William Carey


HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Dalton State Women's Soccer team fell to 6-2-1 overall, 0-1 in the SSAC with an 8-0 loss to #4 William Carey on Thursday night at Crusader Field in Hattiesburg, Miss.

THE FIRST HALF
The Lady Crusaders would waste no time pushing the ball, scoring their first goal in the 9' when Silvia Leonessi went in unassisted. The Roadrunner defense would play tough, but Carey would add two more first half goals to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

THE SECOND HALF
The constant offensive barrage would begin to take its toll on the Lady Birds in the second half. Savannah Carter would go solo for her two second half goals in the 65' and the 69' to extend the Lady Crusader lead to 6-0. Alex Musial and Kaylee Zettler would add the last two goals of the evening, as the #4 Crusaders would take the match 8-0.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State drops to (6-2-1 overall, 0-1 SSAC), while #4 William Carey improves to (9-0, 1-0 SSAC). Senior goalkeeper Rachel Hardin would hold tough in goal saving 10 shots as the Lady Roadrunners were out shot 30-2 on the evening. Adriana Romero and Kaela Ebanks would get shots through the tough William Carey defense, but were stopped by the Lady Crusader goalkeepers.

UP NEXT
The Roadrunners will continue their tough SSAC Western swing with a match at #9 Mobile (Ala.) on Saturday, October 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (CDT).
