Women's Tennis Takes Martin Methodist,5-4, in SSAC Competition






Pulaski, Tn. - The Dalton State women's tennis team earned a 5-4 win over Martin Methodist Saturday at the Warhawks' East Campus tennis courts. 

"It was a great conference win," Lady Roadrunner Coach Michel Bates said of the win over Martin Methodist. ""I was very proud of all the girls after Friday's heartbreaking loss."

 

Dalton State captured two of the three doubles and three of six singles lines to secure the close win.

 

"Katie (Quast), Laura (Winter) and Lucie (Lovinfosse) had great wins today. Even though Erin (Schueman) lost, I'm extremely proud of her effort," said Bates.

 

Doubles:

 

1.    Gema Bolado Yusta/Brenda Rique (MM) def. Gabbie Bordelon/Erin Schueman (DS), 8-0

2.    Daniela Sanchez/Lucie Lovinfosse (DS) def. Miriam Sanchez/Laura Ariza (MM), 8-5

3.    Laura Winter/Katie Quast (DS) def. Darby Tompkins/Ashlee Elkins (MM), 8-0

 

Singles:

 

1.    Laura Winter (DS) def. Gema Bolado Yusta (MM), 6-4, 6-3

2.    Brenda Rique  (MM) def. Gabbie Bordelon (DS), 6-0, 6-0

Both Roadrunner teams travel to SSAC opponents Middle Georgia State in Cochran on Wednesday and Coastal Georgia in Brunswick on Saturday (March 12th).

 

 

Faulkner is SSAC Men's Basketball Champions:

The No. 5-seeded Faulkner Eagles punched their tickets to the NAIA National Tournament on Saturday by defeating No. 2-seed Middle Georgia State in the SSAC Championship game, 78-64. The Eagles join regular season champs William Carey in representing the conference in Kansas City. It is possible that additional teams(s) from the SSAC will be named during the live selection show on Wednesday, March 9th, starting at 6:00 p.m. CT
