The Dalton State men's tennis team was understandably a little tired when they started up at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and the visitors from Point University were ready to take advantage of it.
The Skyhawks started things off with a sweep of the three doubles sets, but the Roadrunners were not ready to give in. Dalton State swept the six singles lines to capture a 6-3 victory at Lakeshore Park Tennis Center.
"We faced a huge challenge early from a motivated and hungry squad," said Dalton State Coach Zack Rogers."They took it to us early in the doubles and put in the quick 3-0 hole."
"We regrouped and got focused for singles," said Rogers. "I am extremely proud of our senior Hayden Fava who stepped up and secured the point at line in his first match of the year."
Rogers said he was impressed with the visiting Skyhawks. "I feel obligated to mention how classy the kids from Point were. They were fair, honest, and gracious in both victory and defeat."
