Mobile, Ala. – The NAIA No. 2 ranked Dalton State men's tennis team struggled during Friday's first day of the two-day Southern States Athletic Conference Round Up at the 60-court Mobile Tennis Center.
 
The Roadrunners started the day by falling to No. 8 ranked William Carey, 5-4 and ended by beating the hosts from the University of Mobile, also 5-4.
 
"It was a very tough day for the guys both physically and mentally," said Dalton State Coach Zack Rogers. "We lost a very hard fought match to William Carey that came down to a few tough breaks and an unfathomable amount of missed opportunities. Hand it to the Crusaders and Coach (Marc) Lux. They seized every opportunity and payed us back for our upset win over them last year."
 
 "We were lucky to come away from our afternoon match with Mobile with a win," said Rogers. "They were a team that smelled blood in the water and really gave us all we could handle. Our guys were tired and running on empty. We took all three doubles lines and then hit the wall. Edberg and Adam gutted out the final two lines and save what could have been a disastrous day."
