Good Start To Road Trip

Valley, AL - The Roadrunner tennis teams started a road trip in the right way Friday afternoon.

The Dalton State men shut-out Point University 9-0 to improve to 5-2 on the season. The women improved to 4-1 with their 9-0 sweep of the host Skyhawks.

The Roadrunner men's team took more than four and a half hours to knock-off Point.
Nikolay Nikiforov (DA) lost in the first set, but came back to best Refa Hewitt (PU) in the next two sets.

Point also entertained SCAD Atlanta on Friday. The Bees knocked off the Point men (3-4), 9-0, while the SCAD women bested now 1-5 Point, 8-1.


On To Hilton Head Island...

The Roadrunner squads traveded from Alabama to South Carolina where they play in the Hilton Head "TennisFest" beginning Sunday afternoon.

Dalton State men and women play the Brevard College Tornados of Brevard, NC Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Chaplin Park Tennis Center.

A doubles exhibition (men and women with one doubles team each) will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center. The competition for DS will be the Saints of Ashford University from Clinton, Ia.

Competition moves to Van der Meer Tennis Center on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The Cougars of Misericordia University from Dallas, Pa. will be the opponents.

Dalton State squads return to Van der Meer on Wednesday morning at 8:30 to play the University of Findlay (Oh). The Roadrunners move back to Chaplin Park Thursday morning at 8:30 to meet the entire Ashford University team for counting action.

It will be women only on Friday. Dalton State plays the ladies from Northwestern College of Orange City, Ia at 12 noon.
