Lady Roadrunners Split a Pair in Brunswick

Brunswick, GA - The Dalton State Lady Roadrunners split volleyball matches in a College of Coastal Georgia hosted tri-match on Saturday.Â

With the split, Dalton State's inaugural season record stands at 9-14 heading into their final match at Tennessee Temple on Tuesday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m..

In the first match of the day, the Lady Roadrunners won the first set 25-21 over the Lady Mariners of the College of Coastal Georgia, who currently sit in second place in the Southern States Athletic Conference.Â

After dropping sets two and three (10-25; 12-25 respectively), the Lady Roadrunners pushed the final set to extra points but ended up losing 26-28.

Against CCG, Dalton State's Tori Pierce had 15 digs, Clarissa Weber had 16 assists and six digs, Alyne Bianchi had 10 kills and 12 digs, Savannah Nelson had 11 kills, Anna Dykes 10 kills, and Karly Newman 5 kills and 7 digs.

"We played well in games one and four," said Coach Bruna Langner. "As the season winds down, I believe we are getting some great experience for next year. If we consistently play like we did in games one and four, we will be extremely competitive in a conference next year."

In the second match of the day, the Lady Roadrunners beat Wesleyan College 3-0 (25-17; 25-21 and 25-11). "We played well, and I am glad we got the win; it makes the drive home a lot shorter," said Coach Langner.Â
Savannah Nelson led Dalton State in the second match with 15 kills. Â Clarissa Weber and Michala Askew led the Lady Roadrunners in assists with 14 and 11 respectively. Megan Clark had 17 digs while Alyne Bianchi had 8 kills and 12 digs.Â

"In looking back at the first season, I am extremely proud of the team and coach Langner," said athletic director Derek Waugh. "They have played like a team, played with great spirit and have represented the insititution with great enthusiasm. With only a couple of months to assemble her first team, the fact that Coach Langner has a chance to win double digit matches in her first season is amazing."
