Dalton State Athletic Director Derek Waugh has been selected to participate in Leadership Georgia, a non-partisan organization that seeks to find and develop geographically, occupationally, and ethnically diverse leadership across Georgia without regard to political, social, religious, or ethnic background. 

Approximately 60 participants are selected each year from several hundred applicants from across the state. Leadership Georgia is one of the nation's oldest and most successful leadership-training programs for young business, civic, and community leaders.

The program is an affiliate of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. It aims to identify, train and inspire a network of young leaders. Waugh was named athletic director for Dalton State in 2012. He previously served as assistant athletic director and head basketball coach at Stetson University in DeLand, FL.
